Ready for some Hammer time? Contact us for information about joining the SBA. You can also contact us here for pricing and purchasing coal. 

Want to hold a Hammer-In? here are some tips!

When:

  • Date/dates.

  • Start time.

  • End time.

Where:

  • Location including written directions as well as a map or google maps pin.

Who:

  • Who is hosting? This is a chance for the host to be recognised for putting on an event!

  • Is it open to all SBA (Saskatchewan Blacksmith Association) members? 

  • Is it open to the public?

  • Is there a maximum number of attendees?

Fees:

  • Will there be a set fee for attending?

  • Will there be a fee for materials if supplied?

  • Will there be a fee for meals if provided?

  • If more than one day, will there be a fee for accommodations?

  • Are any of the fees above optional based on the attendees level of participation?

  • Is a donation at the attendees discretion sufficient?

RSVP:

  • RSVP so that the host can properly prepare for the amount of people attending.

  • Provide a phone number and email address for people to contact. 

What to Expect:

  • Demonstration: Will there be one?  Who is doing it? What are they demonstrating?

  • Iron In The Hat: Yes or No. Who is organising it?

  • Accommodations: If more than one day, what are the local accommodations? Camping, hotels, etc.

  • Meals: What meal/meals are provided? Dietary restrictions? Safe eating area?

  • Evening Gathering: Will there be a gathering after the forges are shut down for the night?  

  • Equipment: What kind of equipment will be available?  Can the equipment be used by attendees or only by the host?

  • Bathroom facilities:  Porta Potty? Shop toilet? House bathroom (do you really want people in your house)?

  • Covered forging area: How big is the shop? Do you need a shade or rain tent for outdoor forging?

  • Host specific options:  Anything that may attract members to attend.  A tool or metalwork auction, a special guest, vender attending?

Advertisement:

  • Who is taking care of making sure everyone knows about the event? Do they have all the required information?
